Dal Niente makes its Rush Hour Concert Series debut with a performance of George Lewis’s Hexis for sextet. Known for his decades of work as an improviser, composer, scholar, trombonist, and computer musician, George draws inspiration for his notated compositions from philosophy, visual arts, sociology as well as a wide range of musics; he creates a unique style to "generate a feeling of being far from equilibrium, encouraging listeners to do what we do best—stay in the moment and be ready for anything." The composer will be present for Dal Niente’s performance of Hexis in anticipation of a recording session with the ensemble August 27-28.
Rush Hour’s August 23 program will also feature performances by Fulcrum Point New Music Project of Mischa Zupko’s Rising and Occupy, previewing the inaugural Ear Taxi Festival of New Music in early October.
