Janelle Jansen Lake
Janelle Lake is a creative and diverse full-time harpist in Chicago. Equally comfortable with solo, chamber, and orchestral works, she specializes in contemporary, jazz, and pop music. Currently, she teaches between 30-40 students at Columbia College's Sherwood Conservatory of Music and in her own private studio in Chicago.
Her musical life is joyfully split into thirds: teaching, working at the Venus harp factory as the staff harpist, and freelancing. She plays with many ensembles in the Chicago area including the Elmhurst Symphony, Dal Niente since 2006, and the New Millennium Chamber Players, in addition to being on call for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Ballet. You can often see Janelle darting through downtown Chicago in her "harpmobile" on the way to play at the Drake Hotel, the Art Institute, or the Mid America Club for a special event. Janelle Lake received her BM and MM from Northwestern University.
