IGOR SANTOS - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

A native of Curitiba, Brazil, Igor is composer currently based in Chicago. His body of work ranges from solo to orchestral music, and a large body of electro-acoustic works. His music has been described as “otherworldly and mysteriously familiar” (Chicago Classical Review), and as “exciting and clear... with a striking boldness" (Luigi Nono Competition Prize).

 Igor has been commissioned and supported by performers such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Dal Niente, Alarm Will Sound, Duo Diorama, eighth blackbird, Ensemble Modern, Riot Ensemble, POING, the American Composers Orchestra, and The Florida Orchestra. He has also been supported through institutions such as the Fromm Music Foundation, DCASE, and through prizes from the Luigi Nono International Competition,  the RED NOTE Competition, and the Salvatore Martirano Award.

 Igor holds degrees in composition from the University of Chicago (Ph.D. 2018), the Eastman School of Music (M.A. 2012), and the University of South Florida (B.M. 2010), with additional studies in workshops and festivals such as Cultivate (2019), Mizzou (2018), Impuls (2017), Time of Music (2017), ManiFeste (2015), Fontainebleau (2010), among others.
